For what it's worth, Sports are a cheaper build and assembled in a lesser factory. Having said that, a lot of the Sport 3rd members i've taken apart had too much preload on the pinion bearing and have a roasted pinion bearing (still working) dropping shavings into the diff. It's sort of a good idea to take the things apart and reassemble them into a Montero 3rd.

Would the 4.9 gears from a sport fit into the diffs of a Gen 2 LS? (the smaller diff Than the Sr?)
Thanks

I had the same thing. Hooked my gauges up (I do residential AC) and sure enough the low side was at 0 with pressure on the high side being too high. Replaced my thermal expansion valve(was sticking shut) and also the filter dryer and AC blows nice and cold now. Really is easy to get the evaporator out. Just took the glove box out.

You wouldn't happen to know the specs on these nuts? 8)

Do I use this big washer on The new bushings or no? And should I get new nuts? For the uca. Thx

I got it. My neighbor came over and he had to in the past sand down the lip on it. Still wasn't easy but slid in.

Gen 2 Montero / Installing(trying to) lower control arm bushing.

Old one came out easy enough. New Siberian bushing just mushrooms. Any tricks to keep it from mushrooming? It's all lined up and lubed  up good.

I'm sure there is still a million of them available special order, shouldn't be too expensive.  Some guys here locally got all the extra ones i bought already.

I honestly don't even know what part this is, there aren't any springs in the front ? Where is it at ? Graciass

My gut feeling is that I should've done the CA bushings .

I want to do a similar thing but install a HAM antenna in the factory spot, I know they make dual HAM and FM radio antennas, any one ever do this?

Gen 2 Montero / Front end Creaking Spund

 >:( Just replaced all Ball joints in the front. Tierods as well. All MOOG parts. When driving around I here a creak when the vehicles suspension flexes. (Before and after new ball joints) .

When I'm parked and jump up and down on the vehicle bouncing it, there is no sound. So I took off the front stabilizer bar thinking it may be creaking when it twists, still same creaking sound is present.

Anyone have this? Think it's time for the control arm bushings? Maybe engine mount?

When I was doing the ball joints I made sure there wasn't any play in the upper control arms but couldn't really check the lower. Bushings are 20 years old. 96 LS. Thanks
