Gen 2 Montero / Re: Electric Door Lock Issues

There's a rubber stopper inside the actuator that gets worn.  What's happening is that the mechanism is going "too far" and bounces back to locked position.  Time for new actuator(s) (i believe it's the passenger side that's most likely to be worn for some reason) or open them up and rebuild the bumper.

While you're in there, just preemptively replace every seal and gasket on the entire motor outside of the head gaskets.  Small engine bay = great attack angle = nearly everything is an enormous pain in the ass to replace if it's leaking vs its contemporaries.

+1 to consider just pulling the motor.

Man, REALLY nice job on the POR15.    I have a bunch of supplies to do the same to mine, but have been waiting on getting a lift installed first so the job is less annoying.

Bulbs probably aren't plugged in.  The pigtails are different between the jdm y0 bulbs and the USDM trucks.

Do you mean to imply that some previous owner would just slap some poorly considered, functionless cosmetic modification onto a vehicle and then not even bother to make it operate even at the most basic level? 

But, that never happens!

Of course not, that never happens on nearly free old SUVs.

Replaced/Fixed this weekend:

Valve cover gaskets
Spark plugs/wires
Intake manifold gaskets
Satan's Penis water pipe gaskets
North/south water pipe o-rings
Water neck gasket
Every coolant line/hose besides radiator hoses (they remain undamaged)
Rear camshaft plug o-rings (One in process still, broke the plate when reinstalling, new one on the way)

Will be ready to drive to any new home in North America this coming weekend. Will have fresh oil and coolant. Price is still OBO, but a bit less so than it was last week.

Oh, that sounds normal-ish.  Still never heard of a cable-driven unit failing on things that aren't Mitsubishis but there's a first time for everything i guess.
