Gen 2 Montero / Re: Transfer Case Issues
« on: July 03, 2019, 02:00:37 PM »
The FSM is pretty detailed

Also the interface from the Ignition Lock Housing "driver" to the Ignition switch wears out.  This is common on Gen 1 & Gen 2.  I've replaced the ignition switch on my '88, '92 & '93 because of this issue.  The switch interface is plastic and is the wear component.

I shot a note to Milner about 100mm polyurethane boots.  They said they do not have them for this application.

Gen 2 Montero / Re: The Wheel List

I think the 16" wheel in the first pick is from a 03-04 Montero Sport, but I don't see how it could fit over the hub on my '92 SR (second pic w the stock 15" wheels) ??

The photo you have listed as "Sport" is actually a Gen 3 (full size) 20th Anniversary wheel.  Not going to fit a Gen 2.  Both rigs in the photo below are mine.

how much depth is available there?  I ordered a Joying for my Gen 3 which arrived yesterday, the no DVD/CD model  JY-UO135N4G.  It is pretty shallow.  If there is 5 1/2" depth available, it would fit.

After fooling with these parts in person I believe the best option for a head unit is a shallow Android "tablet style" unit  - the kind that's only an inch or two deep like this. -  if you try to put a full depth head unit in there it is a difficult or impossible fit.

Too bad its still Android 6, quad core and 16gb

I do have a 4D55 diesel ranger bellhousing to FM145 in my spares.  Certainly would be willing to sell it.  It does use an internal slave.

How about Montero Sport 16" alloys?  There are a few varieties.

Checking in.  Great thread!
