Gen 2 Montero / Fuse box photo needed, 95 LS
« on: December 02, 2018, 11:51:13 PM »
I just "rescued" a 95 LS. It runs and drives but has a number of electrical issues. Speedo, Tac, Odo, headlights and turn signals all don't work. Gas gage and temp are fine. Started at the fuse box in the engine bay and it looks like there are a lot of empty slots. Did these come with a key in the cover? Could I get a picture of what a box should look like?

Any other ideas on what could be going on? I have a 2003 NP but this 95 is a different beast.

Gen 3 Montero / New Single Din Stereo, 2003 with Infinity
« on: July 02, 2018, 04:24:10 PM »
Friday after work I installed a new stereo to replace the factory head unit and would change stations on me randomly. I got a JVC KD-X350BTS ($80). Truly impressed with this unit. With the Metra 70-7003 harness, it was easy to install.

I wanted a simple stereo that would sound good but didn't need to blow the doors off. I didn't want a big double din unit, I find them too distracting. This is great. The Bluetooth connection works instantly and I can use Amazon Music via the Bluetooth.  I can now make and receive calls hands-free. It works with my old iPod too. It has LED lights that can be adjusted for color and brightness. The face is really nice too, very flat/smooth looking and I love having a knob to adjust volume, hate using buttons for that.

The install took me less than 30 minutes. It is really simple and Crutchfield sends detailed instructions. If you're looking for a simple upgrade, this is a great one!

Gen 3 Montero / Water leaking from behind the dash (2003 Limited)
« on: February 12, 2018, 12:28:19 PM »
My Montero's drain for both the sunroof and the AC condensation must be plugged. I keep getting water draining into the passenger footwell. I took the blower fan out and drove around a roundabout until I got dizzy and got all the water drained. I can't keep doing that!

Does anyone know where the drain is? I've googled and watched a couple YouTube videos and they say it's on the firewall, center of the engine about half-way down. I've spent over an hour above and below the truck trying to find it with no luck. Thinking I might need a dental mirror to see it?
