putting dielectric grease on them or one of the electric liquid tape over the connections after reattaching them will help keep away corrosion. changing out all the ground wires on the engine is also a good idea as the oe stuff is ageing and becoming stiff and cracking allowing water in.

I will add to inspect your starter wires for corrosion i've noticed the v6 models always having it growing up the starter wire, adding a starter relay/solenoid also makes a noticable difference.

I've also seen the tensioner bracket broken pretty common

If you want some 4.88's for your v6 those are still in stock in mitsu japan and if for some reason they sold out i have another non chinese company that i can help you get a set thru. let me know if you need those part numbers or help with getting the gears from either.
