Yo you know I'm in the middle of performing flush and have consulted you at many steps along the way. THANK YOU AGAIN for your help.

But i'm reading this article you posted

and the below was taken straight from that article and it basically says using DISTILLED water is not optimal.

There are a couple of different versions of purified water that are far better alternatives. So-called soft water is actually a process that mixes sodium chloride (NaCl) with the water to remove these same impurities. This process uses the sodium ion to create a balanced solution. Because the water is chemically balanced, it will not strip electrons from the soft metals in the cooling system, which is exactly what we want. While some enthusiasts balk at this because they claim that it adds salt to the water, if youíve ever tasted soft water, you know thatís not the case. Soft water is an excellent choice.

If soft water is not easily attainable, look for drinking water that has been purified by reverse osmosis. We found a company called Glacier Water that places water dispensers outside grocery stores and sells this water for thirty cents a gallon. We had this water tested and discovered it removes virtually all of the dissolved metal impurities. This is what we use exclusively in all of our cooling systems. Short of that, any household tap water purification system is certainly better than straight tap water.

Such great stuff happening with this thing. I love it......all of it. In fact......any interest in making another awning setup....I'll obviously pay for your troubles/time/labor? That quick detach sytem you drummed up is awesome.

Gen 2 Montero / Re: Let's do the flashing front lights thing.
« on: March 27, 2019, 12:18:07 PM » since Ernest swapped out my gears and put manual hubs the lights have ALWAYS flashed on my '97SR, but he told me it was fine and that everything was ok. I'm not educated enough to recall why the lights were always flashing but.......I'll give him call to see

ON another note. A few weeks back it would engage into 4wd just fine.......but when i went from 4H to 2wd it kept wanting to 'pop' back into this a 'symptom' of busted fulcrum ball?

Nice score. I hope you enjoy getting it back up to daily shape as much as I have mine, and others who've bought older neglected rigs.

First off......big thanks for posting this. It's extremely helpful to guys like me who are very 'green' at doing their own maintenance. Glad I found it because it differs from a write up I found on EXPO that said "there is no trans filter, just screen to prevent particle uptake"  ??? are my questions:

Would you ever recommend doing flush instead of just fill?

Also, what did you use to clean the magnets with? Reason I ask is I've heard some people say not to even check your transmission fluid with paper towel as to not contaminate ATF fluid.

Any special tricks cleaning the mating surfaces?

Do you have, or know of, a local guy for this?

If you do I'm listening..........
