Gen 2 Montero / Re: SR Fender Flares on LS
« on: August 29, 2017, 12:31:05 PM »

My cladding is starting to come off in places and is starting to look pretty janky. I would imagine trying to install the cladding onto your LS would be a nightmare. Your patience might be much better than mine though :)

I'm contemplating doing same thing Kevin did and just ripping off the cladding altogether and then filling in the holes and repainting the entire rig.

Dude, bummer the pics aren't showing, would love to see it.

Thanks for sharing info on the deadner you used. While I agree there is "lot of good info out there," in my opinion there is "TOO MUCH INFO OUT THERE." I read up and think I want something, then don't because that particular product smells like tar. So I start over and think I find something "then come to find out it doesn't do too well in the heat (i live in AZ) then i start over and find something, but then I find out it doesn't have adhesive back.......I think i'm just going to go to lowes and pick up the cheap stuff everyone talks about......something is better than nothing i suppose....amiright???

Will be adding sound deadener material on the carpet, and on various parts of the body before we re-install the interior.

If ya don't mind me askin...................which product you going with for the sound deadening ?

Kudos for doing the most labor intensive jobs during monsoon humidity  ;)

Are you planning on adding a radiant barrier or sound dampener like fatmat or dynamat? Reflectix under the headliner maybe?

I find that "after" picture of the cleaned trans to be very satisfying.

Nice work

Our family makes annual camping trip to Central Oregon every year. Last summers trip was first time our then 2yr old boy got to experience the great outdoors and everything that came with it:  trees, (green trees at that), dirt (actual dirt!!) and mud, and lakes and the kid just came alive. It was on that trip I decided an adventure/camping truck was in order. After minimal research I figured I'd just buy an LC, but was quickly frustrated that most LC's came with sh*t tons of miles and ridiculous price tags. So I reached out to a buddy who is much more knowledgeable in this area than I, and after telling him what I was wanting he suggested: "ya know, mid to late 90's Montero's are sneakers and will check all your boxes and then some." That same day (I think it was a Wednesday) I found a '97 SR on Craigslist and the below picture is taken the following Saturday on my  maiden voyage with my little dude. The guy who sold it to me said he'd give me the number of a guy who is super knowledgeable on Mitsu's and is an expert mechanic. That mechanic is now somebody I'd consider a good friend and through him I've been lucky to be introduced to the likes of  Toasty.........IncoroRatedX........then Pa_Jero........then LordTrunks, JohnnyB............Fortunate to have found such incredibly talented and knowledgeable dudes, and have newfound appreciation for Montero's.

The other pic is how she looks t'day.

Actually, if you leave off the "www" then FSM goodness is all there for you.

Anybody got any guesses as to why there's  not a '97 catalog?
