I picked this up last Friday.

Went way out to middle of nowhere Oklahoma to acquire.  The motor is strong and 4X4 works well.  Air compressor and locker work too.
It's going to take a bit of work to get things up to par.  Previous owner "modified" some of the wiring.  When I say "modified" I mean cut.  The headlights were re-wired to a switch which hangs down from the rear view mirror.

There is a dent in the rear quarter panel where the PO covered it with sheet metal attached with rivet.

There is also a howl when driving which I suspect comes from vibrations of this sheet metal.  Could be something else too.
Many dash lights are lit.  Since there is now rear passenger side caliper, i suspect that's why the brake lights are on.

Did find a nice dash ornament to distract from the flaws.

3 different sized tires

Lot's to get done!  Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Gen 1 Montero / No Crank No Start 1991 LWB 3.0
« on: September 25, 2017, 11:58:42 AM »
We discussed this on the Facebook but this is one of the issues with the Facebook.  Can't find the post once a few days go by.
So my business partner got on the Montero band wagon.  We found a 91 for cheap.  Gas tank was completely full of gas and black shit!  Anyway, probably a good thing since it would not turn over with the key.  Did a little trouble shooting.  Fuel pump doesn't turn on with a turn of the key and neither does the starter.  I was able to jump the starter and motor runs with starting fluid.  I downloaded the correct pages from the FSM to chase the wires.  Coil has power.  This is about when my meter quit working. (no display)  I attached the page I believe I need to chase these wires.  If you have other ideas, let me know.

4.90 gears from a sport.  What years? 00-04? Looks like 3.5 and 3.0 were available in the sport of those years.  There are a couple in the local yards here in OKC.  Can I swap the ring and pinons fromthe sport to my 95SR?

Mitsubishi Related / Crankshaft Position Sensor Keeps Failing!
« on: April 08, 2017, 02:38:57 PM »
I posted this over on the Expo AZ page.  Thought I'd see if I could get some help here as well.

Well, I need your help. My 95 SR is blowing through crank position sensors. I am now on the 5th sensor. All 3 wires have been tested and checked out with the right voltage. I have replaced the sensor ring (MD185237) and spacer (MD309036). I am on my 3rd mitsu crank sensor (MD303643) The 1st 2 were purchased at O'Reilly's and failed within minutes. As you all know, this process is like replacing the timing belt over and over and over and over again... Any advice and help is very much appreciated.

I am planing a trip to Colorado in June. I will also be heading to AZ at that time if I can get this sorted out.
