for what it might be worth, i'm on the list of pre-orders for the gen 1 skids. i'm most interested in the fuel tank protection - i understand that you want to sell out on the front skid before developing the next section, but maybe just as a feeler, you could post a pre-order page for the back to see if there might be more interest?

hope to see more of the montero family on the trail soon...

I quit ADD, maybe Josh will chime in on his plans for skid plates.

still enjoying the hell out of this little truck - the meet-ups with other monteros and friends, and the trail runs around southern california are precisely why i worked to find one like this, and then spent so much time asking questions and fixing it up. really grateful to the folks here at ADD (past and present) for the advice and help.

picked up some aftermarket headlight doors to replace the 30-year-old, cracked and brittle plastic - they seem just like the originals as far as quality goes. a bit of flash to trim off, but otherwise look perfect.

also spent some time in the snow. dual LSDs really seem to be the ticket for a lightweight truck, and i didn't run into much trouble in deep, fresh snow.

Awesome build, glad to have this as a reference. Great looking rig! If you make it to Oregon, let's talk bodywork & paint  8)

Where did you find the headlight doors?

Thread needs some deep snow pics.  ;)

headlight doors are aftermarket off of eBay. pretty good price considering you get the pair plus all the mounting hardware. about what i paid for a set at the LKQ yard... https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Set-of-2-Pack-Headlight-Door-Bezel-Left-Right-Side-Black-LH-RH-Dodge/352363132594

that was the gold fever trail outside big bear, ca - puts you on 2N09, 3N16 and 3N05. we did it "backwards" by starting at the lucky mine, which is traditionally one of the last stops. the nice thing about starting early and going in the east-to-west direction was having the trail all to ourselves until we started seeing people going the other way about 2.5 hours into the trip.
