WTB: Gen 3 Montero - Limited Trim
« on: September 18, 2017, 05:45:38 AM »
Looking for a Gen 3 limited trim, preferably 2003-2006, under 150k.  Already own a Gen 1 for fun, looking to replace our Subaru Outback with something a bit bigger and the Gen 3 sounds like a great fit.

Let me know if you have found any on craigslist/etc. or have one for sale!

Most I have seen are in rough shape, I realize they're pushing 15+years old now, but hoping to find a nice example.

A few that I have found so far:

-Looks great, but a far drive for us to fly-drive it home to MI

-Looked at this one, it has low miles at 81k, but it is very rough both exterior and interior.  Mechanicals are solid.  But asking price is very high considering lots of exterior dents, scratches, and interior scratches

What's the budget and time frame?

We're going to be selling our 2003 Black on Black 20th Anniversary soon, just haven't had time to give it the detailing it deserves.

~130k miles, fresh 60k service, front brakes, all engine pullies, belt, etc.

Everything works except the power antenna.  (Courtesy of someone in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia breaking it off).

OME HD lift, 235/85-16 Duratracs.

Generally a beautiful truck that drives incredibly well.  Last time i asked what it was worth on Expo, however, the general consensus was "Pocket lint and a half pack of bubble gum."  If that's what you're looking to pay, i won't waste your time.

We're just down in Indy, truck came from Socal 2 years ago, has absolutely zero rust.

Budget is <$8000, timeframe is flexible but would prefer to get into a car before winter.  I'll shoot you a PM

They are out there. I just picked up this O3 for $4,000. It has 122,000, been garaged its entire life, great records, oil changed every 3K. This one just popped up on Craigslist in Modesto. https://modesto.craigslist.org/ctd/d/2003-mitsubishi-montero3rd/6344831531.html

I'm loving the Montero so far. I took it out to a local OHV park and that thing climbs. I'll chicken out way before I reach its limits. Good luck.

Back on the hunt for a Gen3!  This time, open to 2001-2006 years, let me know if you have one for sale.

I may still sell mine in the fall, i need it now though. It's an '05 Limited with 157k miles and it's very nice inside and out. All armored up and almost new 31" Nitto Grapplers, well cared for too.

On the low milage ones, be careful because some had odometer issues and clusters replaced without having the odometer made accurate. So a low milage truck with 200k ass miles is what you might get.
