Hi yall,
I figured after a year on Expedition Portal and now as a new member on here, I might as well introduce myself and my rig.
My name is Brian and I live in Montrose, CO - elevation 5,807. We are surrounded by 13000 -14,000 mountains to the south and east, the Grand Mesa to our north and the Utah state line is 58.5 miles to our west... Moab is a couple hours away.
My personalized plates on every rig I have ever built match my handle which simply means:
Be iN Z MounTaiNS.
I come from an extensive background with full size Chevys, straight axle and IFS, but have recently taken an interest in Monteros, because of their straight forward, purpose built, overly engineered design. My wife and small children got tired of bouncing around in my clunky straight axle K5 and so that prompted me to get something a bit more family friendly.
About a year ago I found a clean specimen. A minty 95 LS. It was apparently owned since new by an older couple. They were religious about maintenance and had all services performed at Mitsu dealers. I have every service record from the day it was new, including oil changes, and tire rotations.
After the husband died, the former service manager at the Mitsu dealership found out the wife was selling it and purchased it, since he knew every detail about it and its care. He drove it for about a year and decided to cut down on the amount of vehicles in his herd, so it popped up on Craigslist about 3 hours from me... and here I come with some cash and home with a super clean Montero.
It is all stock aside from manual hubs and 31s. But my plans involve the usual... SR axles, maybe re-gear, some lift, 33s (maybe 35s), possibly a 3.5 swap and some other overlandish mods or family camping trips.
I have already appreciated gleaning useful information from this site and other Montero friendly sites. I look forward to sharing my progress with you and the helpful advice that will come along the way.

He even included a set of factory service manuals

I have not has the time or funds to do much with it over the last year, but it gets me where I like to go anyway.
Till next time
