Champagne taste 1991 LWB Pajero
« on: January 21, 2018, 08:57:29 PM »
Im a Chrysler Jeep, Dodge Master technician and here is my story

This is all a first for me.

my civic that now is stock and rots on the driveway

2 years ago I never thought I would own a suv let alone a diesel, let alone a mitsubishi.  My dream set up was a cool vip car and a side project slider.  I had it, but it never felt right, I realized that these were my teenage fantasies.  I wasn't a teen anymore and it wasn't all that I hoped it would be.

I needed a daily.  Yea my civic was a daily but what if it snowed, what if I had to take more than 2 people.  What if I wanted to go camping.  Sure lets go look at the $40k Jeep Grand Cherokees.  But it doesn't have that stupid factor im looking for, not like dumb looking like just "wow" kind of stupid.  I don't want to be in debt my entire life.

Wait rhd cars are starting to pop up, how stupid would it be if I bought a Rhd suv.  Two phone calls, Two 10hr trips and I find myself to be the proud owner of a 1991 Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed LWB

specs on the truck:
-single owner in Japan
-Full maintence history at the dealer from the day the vehicle was purchased
-no rust (minus exhaust but that was taken care of)
-65,000 original miles (converted from km)
-Loaded exceed model

When I went to pick her up at Duncan Imports in Virginia

took some photos after it was home

next was working on getting the vehicle more road worthy.  Tires and fixing the exhaust

factory sized toyo open countries

broken exhaust right past the second muffler

who needs a muffler anyways 2Ē straight section from the center flange

applied the intercooler turbo stickers the previous owner removed

some well needed maintenance along with replacing the center cluster bezel the PO cut

Took a trip to Philly for MOD 2017 and got to meet the North East crew

I donít think I have ever trusted a vehicle as much as I have this one.  Bunch of my buddies from the west coast were going to be part of Final Bout 3 so I figured I would make the trek to Wisconsin and take the long way home.  Best decision I have don e in a while.  Truck did amazing the whole time at 26mpg

To wisconsin

from wisconsin

stopped and saw Chicago, Indianapolis, Dayton, Pittsburgh, and falling water

coming home through cumberland

bought new kc daylight in october

Ill have to post an update soon with newer photos.  enjoy for now

some more recent photos;

camping

went to one of our local drift events and someone snapped this

took off the side steps and rear step before the snow started in attempt to preserve them and now I like the look of it without them so much more

my own spot at work since no one else wants it

weather was getting to that point

then it happened.  have yet to need to engage 4wd yet

hit 120km the other day.  barely broken in now

finally got around to installing the cb antenna still needs to be tuned

next things on the list
-build a new exhaust with template to mass produce them in 2.5" and 3"
-tune cb antenna
-address the cooling leak I caused and possible upper radiator hose
-purchase Greddy muti d/a gauge for boost, egt and general temp
-turn up boost and fuel just a tad, like a smidgen
-delete egr
-import some older Work deerfields or crags (dream wheels)

Whoa that is gorgeous!

I have a couple questions i'm hoping you can answer.  :)

1) Any visible part numbers or branding on the window vent visors/rain deflectors?
2) What are the wheels?  They look like the Enkei EK32s on mine
3) If you don't mind the prying, what did that truck run you?
4) 2.5 or 2.8?

Thanks dude, I have had this build ready to post for a while now.  Just actually got around to doing it.

4) 2.5 or 2.8?

Thanks man

1. there are none other than the Pajero name.  They are the factory visors
2. I wanna say Enkei but not EK32 they have bolt rivets and are not truly 3 piece, the marking on these were so worn out and no label but are true 3 piece with hardware.  I found a set once before but cannot recall the name.
3. I paid 9k for the truck at a grade 4 auction rating.  was listed for 11.5
4 2.5 turbo

Yo what the hell! I was looking for the owner of the Montero at final bout! Hahahaha Shit, small world. Welcome.

super small world, I had a few guys ask me about it.  I was there with Destroy and Villains all weekend.

Wow that thing is seriously rad.

Thanks dude!

Thanks!

It appears that i have mis-identified my wheels, then.  Mine are also Enkei, but have actual bolts.  I'll dig around, maybe i can make a discovery for the both of us.

I found a set of them yesterday on the auctions actually.  But sadly no description or brand.  Im going to look into it as well.  I know mine are 15 x 7.5 -18 from the stamping and made in Japan

Mine say 15x8.5 -19 according to the markings on the back, but the actual offset is in the -50 range, so i'm guessing they've been rebarreled.

But i think mine also look different from yours, now that i look closely.  Mine look like dead ringers for EK32s, but i have nuts/hardware and such on the back side of the face.  Maybe that's normal?  Weird old truck wheels aren't really my forte.  :)

yours are EK32's, possible that the wheels were re-barreled.  thats correct they were rivet/bolts, I believe.  Head of a rivet threads of a bolt

Perfect, likely making it nearly impossible for finding a matching 5th spare.  :P
