2.6L G54b Turbo Swap Tech
« on: May 23, 2018, 06:17:58 AM »
Starting this thread as a resource for G54B turbocharger installation onto a stock 2.6L Gen 1, focusing on directly swapping over turbo TBI G54B parts for a "low boost" build.  A high boost forged bottom end, port injection manifold, etc. would be the ticket, but this is a budget build list.

Please post any info, tips, or issues you ran into the way during a turbo install. Will update this first post as info comes in!

Add to the first post: "Spark Box"

Note that the 88-89 is considered the 'premium' set-up, and preferred donor car due to the most advanced the electronics were developed. 87 is second.

The turbo downpipe alternative is available aftermarket and is much less restrictive. The stock one uses, basically, a near-90-degree bend at the turbo outlet into the downpipe.

87 Raider, There's a turbo 2.6 under its hood, really
83 "Dodge" Power Ram 50, a bit lifted, way slow and gets more comments from random people than the other two put together

Another thing that I've heard ( haven't researched it part wise) is that the 89 Star/Quest has a larger clutch setup compared to the earlier cars, snd bigger than the Montero. Can anyone confirm or deny this one?
