3.15 Gear Install - Questions
« on: March 04, 2019, 11:24:24 AM »
Good morning all.
I was working intermittently on my tcase gear install yesterday and ran into a few hurdles, which leads me to a few questions I have for the braintrust...

First question:
Is that hole suppose to be there? It looks like something rubbed through the wall..

Not sure if I should start surfing eBay for a new tcase?
There were no big chunks when I drained all the fluids.

Second question:
I can't get the shift fork off to save my life. I've followed the article written on here. I've all the sensors, the spring and ball, the cotter pin... But I can't get the rail to move either direction enough to release the shift fork... Any suggestions? I'm hesitant to keep "hitting it harder" in any direction.

Bonus question:
Not using the right snap ring pliers did a number on the bearing retainer. I've done my best to straighten this back out using some pliers, a 20ton press, but it's still not good enough to seat properly.

Anyone happen to know where to order new snap rings?

I'm fairly far away in Boise, ID. :-/
I learned one thing from this... invest $15 for the right kind of snap ring pliers
.
